We know, rules are one of the last things you want to think about when you are thinking about your next piercing. But at Classic 13 Tattoo, we follow a few important rules that ensure your safety and guarantee we provide you the highest quality experience to ensure your safety and complete satisfaction. It is supremely important to us that we adhere to all these rules all the time, and we want to share them with you so you know the drill. There are some basic rules that all good tattoo studios follow.
Here are the key things to know:
Generally speaking, we can pierce any adult over the age of 18 with a valid ID (see below).
However, we also pierce people ages 16 to 17 with valid ID, as long as one parent or guardian is present who also has a valid ID. Piercing minors without parental consent is illegal. Same applies to any minor under 16 for ear piercing, as a parent must be present with ID. We do not do nipple or genital piercings on any minor (consent or not). If you are the legal guardian of a minor, you must show documentation that proves legal guardianship. If your last name is different from the minor’s last name, you must also show proof of the relationship.
The only way for a minor to get tattooed or pierced is that a parent be present and for both minor and parents to have ID's and a birth certificate or guardianship papers.
In order to get a piercing at Classic 13 Tattoo, we need to see some ID. It’s the law. Your identification must be current (not expired) and you must present it at the beginning of your appointment. Acceptable forms of valid ID include:
Sterilization and Infection control
Cleanliness is our top priority when it comes to offering excellent piercings. We are rigorous and relentless in our adherence to the highest standards of hygiene and infection control.
Whenever possible, the materials and equipment involved in the piercing process is single use and disposable. That means it was brand new, never used and sterilized when used on you and then it is disposed of in a Sharps container immediately after your piercing. This includes piercing needles.
A few pieces of equipment that may need to be reused and is always first disinfected using a high-quality disinfectant, processed through an ultrasonic-cleaner, placed in a sterilization pouch and processed in an steam autoclave sterilizer. These sterilizers are the same ones used in hospitals and other medical offices to sterilize equipment.
We also disinfect our piercing room each day and all work surfaces between every client. Rest assured we take every precaution to ensure that your piercing is done in the cleanest and safest environment possible.
Drugs and Alcohol
While it might seem like a great idea to get drunk or high and come in for a piercing, it’s actually a terrible idea. It’s also illegal to pierce anyone who is believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who is thought to be under the influence. We will, however, welcome you back when you are running properly on all cylinders.
